Hot Rodding to Heaven
Hot Rod is our first Roger baby. We showed him at one show as a yearling in lounge line and earned 1 point. As a 2 year old we sent him for professional training, at his first show in May at Flagstaff, AZ he earned his first points in WP. His next show in Sep. at Prescott AZ he won money in both the Two Year Old WP & HUS Futurities, also earning points in WP & HUS, and was the High Point Junior Performance Horse for the Show. We sold him at that show to a youth, Anneka Bergstrand of Show Low AZ. Anneka went on to earn 100 performance points in many Youth 14-18 Events, she also placed in the Top 10 at the World Show in Western Riding. They also showed him in Open and earned points in HUS, WP, WR, Trail, and a ROM in Halter. He is now owned by another youth from Texas, who is showing him and earning more points. |

Impressively Dunn
Cat was a 1985 Red Dun Overo mare by Impressionist out of a Doc Zinfandel daughter. When I first saw her, I knew she was something special and bought her at 3 days old. I named her Cat because she was chasing birds around the barn.
Her registered name is Impressively Dunn and she truly lived up to that, her show career started in Sep. 1986 winning the futurities in Olympia, WA then moving on as a 2 year old to winning or placing high in All WP futurities entered, as well as earning points in WP and Halter classes. She earned her championship as a 3 year old, in the spring as a 4 year old she was sent to the Simmelink Ranch to be bred to Tuffy Two Spades (Barlink Macho Man's sire) after returning in foal she continued showing and finished her Superiors in Halter and Western Pleasure, and receiving her Versatility Award by earning ROM's in Barrels & Pole Bending. The spring of 1990 she foaled with a beautiful red dunn overo colt, after weaning she went back to showing with Rob Steinmetz to get her Roping points, this only took two months to finish. By doing so she has received her SUPERIOR ALL AROUND #86, Aug. 12, 1990 at Caldwell ID with 145 Lifetime Performance points, 56 Halter, 52 WP, 3 Grands, 10 Reserve Grands, 21 HUS, 27 Barrel, 15 Pole Bending, 14 Heeling, 6 Steer Stopping, and 10 Trail points.
After all this she earned her retirement from the show ring, moving on to her new era as a Broodmare. As this is happening her first colt DUNN TO PURRFECTION was already winning money at NWCC, Zone One, and Oregon Triple Crown Futurities.
Being bred back to Tuffy Two Spades in 1991, she foaled in April of '92 & had a gorgeous red dun filly, unfortunately having RH neg. loosing her at 10 days. Two weeks later Cat got very sick and was sent to the Vet. School at W.S.U. 8 weeks later she was diagnosed with EPM and also developed laminitis in the hind leg. After many months of trying to recover she had to be euthanized in Dec of 1992.
Cat was one of the truly great horses and I feel blessed to have raised and shown her. If there are horse shows in heaven, I'm sure she is a star up there too. |
